We start with a full-time environmental chemist, so a stream is identified in a laboratory before anyone prices a collection, and we take the easy 90% while we are on site so you are not running a second contract for one material. What manufacturing waste do we collect?

Manufacturing waste is everything a production process leaves behind, and we take the streams a general contract refuses:

Offcuts and reject material: production scrap, including thermoset and mixed material with no easy route.
Swarf and spent metalworking fluids: metal shavings, cutting fluids and coolant emulsions.
Process chemicals, paints, adhesives and resins: spent and off-spec process liquids and cured scrap.
Filter cake and effluent sludge: dewatered process solids and treatment-plant sludge.
Contaminated and surplus packaging: the drums, IBCs and liners your raw materials arrived in.

Non-hazardous does not mean easy: plenty of factory waste with no asterisk gets refused because it is a thermoset, because it is wet, or because nobody has characterised it. Describe the one stream causing the problem, and we will tell you what it is and where it goes.

How we handle your manufacturing waste

We identify the material first: where a stream is not obvious our chemist samples and analyses it, then writes the classification down with the reasoning behind it. We collect around your shift patterns, shutdowns and yard access rather than a fixed round, so a collection does not arrive mid-changeover or block a loading bay, and material moves in whatever containment the stream needs, from drums and IBCs to tanker loads. We recondition industrial packaging, so a sound drum or IBC is cleaned, tested and put back into service instead of written off, which is reuse in the sense the waste hierarchy means. Every load leaves on a transfer note or a hazardous waste consignment note carrying the code, description and weight, and we collect across the UK to one written specification, so a plant in the North West and one in the Midlands are classified and reported identically, with one accountable contact. Your material is treated at our permitted Trafford Park site, licensed since the early 1980s, and we have held ISO 9001 since 2015.

Manufacturing waste questions

What if nobody will take one of our waste streams?

A stream nobody will take has usually not been identified, rather than being impossible to treat. Without a defensible classification, no receiving site can accept it and no registered carrier will move it, so we analyse a sample, write the classification down, and tell you which route it genuinely qualifies for, including when the honest answer is treatment and disposal rather than recycling.

Do you take part-full drums and contaminated containers?

Packaging Reuse takes part-full drums and contaminated containers, and it is one of the main reasons a whole account moves to us. They are classified on the residue inside, not the container, which is why generalist contractors leave them in the yard. Sound containers are cleaned and reconditioned, and where they cannot be, the residue is treated separately and the container recovered as metal or plastic.

Do you handle hazardous and non-hazardous waste together?

Packaging Reuse handles hazardous and non-hazardous waste on one account, but never in one container or on one document. Hazardous streams travel under a consignment note to outlets permitted for that code, while the rest moves on a transfer note. One account means one classification standard and one set of records, which is what an auditor asks for.

How do you report recycling honestly?

We report each stream on its own rather than averaging a whole site into one figure, because averaging cardboard against filter cake, or badging the site zero waste to landfill, tells you nothing about the stream you were worried about. Recycled metal and regranulated polymer genuinely re-enter the circular economy, energy recovery does not, and our reports say which is which. Moving one stream up a rung of the waste hierarchy is where the real cost savings and recycling rates come from.

Can we book regular collections or a one-off clearance?

Packaging Reuse runs both scheduled collections around your production schedule and one-off clearances. A line changeover or decommission produces a year of waste in a fortnight and in the wrong containers, so it is booked as a one-off with extra capacity, and unlabelled material is identified before it moves. Either way the correct note travels with every load.
